Penal Code 550(a) prohibits health care and medical billing fraud in California. If the fraudulent healthcare medical billing fraud allegations are worth no more than nine hundred fifty dollars ($950) in total, then the offense will be charged as a misdemeanor.

  • fine of up to fifty thousand dollars ($50,000) or double the amount of the fraud, and/or
